Who Couldn't Love Lois?

Well, a surprise this week as my friend Angela came in to KC in preparation of moving and joining us 'working folks.' She joined me in watching Smallville on Wednesday. I will admit I had my doubts about the show in terms of depth and plot development (obviously nothing huge happened). However, I was pleasantly surprised and happy with the easy flow of the episode. Sometimes it is nice to just have an episode that "just is" and not a whole lot more. Two scenes caught my eye - the first was Clark standing up to his father about football and the foreshadowing of Johnathan's leaving and Clark moving towards his destiny. The second filled in line with this first scene. It was subtle, but the very last scene where Lois dunks Clark - there was a slight sharing of feelings and interest. Again, moving towards his destiny as Superman - I am liking the way the writer's and actors are developing this transition. It doesn't seem forced, we know it must happen and instead of just making it happen we are watching it unfold and understanding more the "why's" or choices, successes, and failures. Much like our own stories - but that's another entry.
Angela reported to me that our original Smallville crew was not too much impressed with miss Lois Lane. I on the other hand am loving her entry into the show; even more, I now want CLark to be with Lois and not Lana. There are a few reasons I guess - not that I need them, Lois is Clark's destiny - and you can't fight that anyway. I always wanted Lana and Clark to get together - but I have now realized that was only because, for the most part, there weren't any other options, except Chloe. Lana was really the only one that pressed Clark's buttons and challenged him. But now there's Lois, and it was only a matter of time until...Lois. She presses every button of Clark's. She is annoying, pushy, confident, attractive, and the human female version of Kal-El. I love her, and I like the fact that they get along and annoy each other so much. Lana was always there, but not really. Clark liked her but I think more than anything Clark had grown to love the idea of Lana and a false person - Lana's wonderful but Lois is Clark's match, equal, and true supporter. Therefore, my fellow Smallvillians, my vote is totally Lois and I hope we continue to see more between the two of them. What's more - with the exception of Lana getting in the way, we don't have to worry about the two of them getting together, breaking up, and back and forth all the time - neither being always honest. As Clark said, "It's totally different when the person likes you back." In my life I have seen that back and forth relationships are fun, but the ones that are "exciting" are the one's where you look back and say..."it was only a matter of time until...Lois" (or fill in whomevers name). So the question is, who is your Lana? Do you need to let go of her and wait for your Lois? or maybe you can't, and when Lois comes it won't matter because Lana will fade into fond memory.
"I may be distrubed but won't you concede, even heroes have the right to dream."
