maybe it's the quiet that surrounds the night, perhaps it's walking through the darkness with only my footsteps, maybe it's working alone hours after others return to families, perhaps it's new roommates leaving so soon, maybe it's old friends moving on, perhaps it's returning to the grind after a week of solitude, maybe it's the lost contact of those whose counsel I held the richest, perhaps it's a mind filled with lists, maybe it's a heart whose guilt needs to drift away in forgiveness, perhaps it's a family too far from a new home, maybe it's the hum of an empty basement, perhaps it's shifting seasons from warmth to cold, maybe it's haunting dreams of a past nearly forgotten, perhaps it's the fear of a future adrift in uncertainty, maybe it's...maybe it's...maybe it's the loss of pretend into the realm of a, long time coming, surrounding reality. . . .whatever it may be, tomorrow is another day and the sun rises as the sadness sets.
