The Old Roomies

Well, tonight is an evening full of old memories and good new ones being made. My roommates are all in town tonight...including Mike who has spent the summer in NYC and is getting ready to start Seminary in Boston. (This picture is just of Mike and Dusty...I need to scan a picture of the four of us, Will and I are missing) Anyway, We spent the evening with lots of friends eating and goofing around down on the plaza. It's good to see these guys because we had so many great times in the ville, but also because our friendships aren't those in the sense that it's like, "Well let's catch up, good to hear from you, and i'll see you later" with no real authentic connections being made. We can still be exactly as we are around each other...able to talk, laugh, and enjoy our time together; without feeling like we don't know each other or that we must use this time in some overly eventful way. I get so disappointed with relationships that have moved beyond each other...you can tell in two ways 1) you can no longer talk or 2) your time together consists of packed activities where you just catch up but aren't the same as you used to be, your time is spent avoiding how you've changed. Real friendships accept the change and learn to connect to the new person they are meeting. I have been extremely blessed by all of my roommates over the years, including my new roommates and their long time friendships. All my prayers to you guys as we go our separate ways but are forever connected through our God, memories, laughs, love, and future times together.
Closing line for my old roommates and great friends, "Maybe he's a transformer." -Mike P. discussing his revelations about Clark Kent and Clark's opinion that "there's nothing more to me than what you see."
