Is The Door Locked?

You failed to mention that it was only one of the prettiest girls in school who you had been pining over for MONTHS! Who you completely DITCHED your date for at prom, only to spend all night tending to her! Who you had dreamt of asking out thousands of times and were floating on air when she said yes. That she was sitting there looking at you expectingly with a "Are you going to kiss me or not?" look on her face. That you didn't call her afterwards to a) tell her you had a good time b) ask her out again or c) apologize for your momentary lack of social etiquette. Yes. Let the hopeless romantic shine again. Let there be hope for ALL girls to be humiliated at the end of a date. Completely joking, of course. Well, only mostly completely. :)" I have several theories as to who posted this thought - well only mostly one! Punk.
Without further ado, here are the details of my little blind date from several weeks ago. I will paraphrase many of the details...but the gist of the situation is there. It started off fairly well. I found myself completely lost, wondering aimlessly around her apartment complex - luckily she found me instead of me finding her (there's no symbology there so don't try...I think the word you're looking for is symbolism). We traveled down to the plaza where we ate at Brio's and discussed families, school, our past, relationships, christianity, movies, a bit of everything. Overall, I will say the conversation was pretty good; not a lot of dry time or awkward moments. Thereafter we stolled to barnes and noble where I quickly found out that book browsing is not her foretay. Looking at housing magazines was a horse of a different color though. I took her home and she invited me inside. From there we played chess a few times, talked a bit more, and then I left because I was fading. There are the facts, here are the thoughts. I had never been as tired after a date as I was after that one - perhaps from asking questions, or just communicating without the connection, who knows...but I was exhausted. Also, I wasn't all that interested in pursuing. Yet, I thought maybe we just needed to get to know each other more - so I asked her out again, she was busying studying for medical boards...I like a jerk took that as my excuse, and I haven't called her again. I suppose it was rather painful because I realized we didn't really connect. I don't konw that I wanted us too, really, but there was some hope I placed on it. I know out there somewhere is an amazing woman with whom I'll finally connect - I haven't met her yet...but someday...someday. Honestly, if not, then I am truly fine with that as well - not because I'm just fine with it like the typical thing you're supposed to say, but I truly am so selfish that I like being single! Hows that for honesty, its nice taking care of numbero uno in terms of emotions...I go where I like, do what I like, and get to choose the relationships with whom I invest. That was probably the most selfish thing I've ever said - I hope it changes but for right now, I'm not cut out for a relationship. I'm moving!
Oh yeah, did you hear they're making a Finding Nemo sequel. Check it out - looks kinda short in terms of plot and character development, but possibly a thriller! Check out Joel Seagull's comment Finding Nemo 2

Tyler, when you say out south, do you mean OP, KS south? If you need any assistance on locations of things or the like, let me know. You cous, Laura
Oddly enough - no one has said one thing about Finding Nemo 2...you all disappoint me. I thought that was an awesome joke
I do a bit of writing, but it always ends up being sent out as letters. I still do the old standby of the snail mail with a dip pen, and since there are only so many hours in the day, i'd rather spend my time writing for other people than myself. I do the same with paintings, except there I am wise enough to take pictures of them before I send them across the country. I write a lot of music, so the blind could appreciate that certainly, but between photos, painting and music, plus improv comedy, plus letter writing, its about all the art i can muster. I would like to write more, but I don't too much. I do need to get into this moveable type thing, its much better, much cleaner, and it seems like the content is a millionfold better quality on most of the blogs. -andrew
IT has been far too long.. what date.. what girl.. how am I so far out of the loop.... call you soon.. Brandy
Not that any of you read these comments...which is a good thing for me I suppose. I'm sitting here alone tonight with a very bizzare feeling I haven't felt in some time. I'm watching an episode of Dawson's Creek where Dawson's father dies. It is porobably one of the saddest episodes of any show I've ever seen. So possibly this feeling is just from watching this...perhaps not. The date I went on this week was a slight bust - medium I guess. We talked and it was fine, a good date...but I don't know that we connected. Actually to be honest, we didn't connect at all on the level I desire. Odd, I guess I was hoping for more - or a chance, or a start, or something - I think even flat nothing would be better than medium. Because medium just proves this horrible feeling that all that's out there is at best medium. What in the world?!? What a sick place sometimes that we all are surrounded by medium, hopeless, sadness. Thank God there is a heaven because sometimes, this place is just empty.
Tyler, sorry that the date did not go so well... I have the same feelings of medium, hopeless, and sadness quite a bit, but it is life. I just remember, and you should also, that you and I have great friends and family around, and we will both find someone some day. As Cronin said with REO... keep on pushin! I'm going to Iowa this weekend, but give me a call, and I'll try calling you again soon, bye!
