There is no hesitation or lack of honesty when I say that I love worshipping and becoming part of the community at Jacob's Well. Tim gave a very interesting sermon tonight about the story of Jesus calming the storm. He posed some questions at the end that I found convicting - perhaps it's just the space of my own life at the moment, but I felt they are truth producing questions that, for the most part, apply to each of us. You may need the context of the sermon...which you can download, but if not, Here they are:
Jesus has the expectation that his presence in your life will generate greater faith. Are you aware of that?
The given in our life is storms. What are the storms in your life right now?
If you were to reflect upon your life, and think about the things that are battering on your ship...what are they? Have you reckoned with them? or are you just trying to put your nose down and get to the other shore really quickly?
There is a physical aspect to the storm, but there is also a spiritual aspect to the storms in your life - are you aware of the spiritual side of the storms in your life? or are you simply trying to make the storms abade by finding a few things in your life that you can be in control of? or are you seeing the spiritual battle going on?
Are you aware of the presence of Jesus with you? Are you aware of him in the boat with you? And to what are you focusing on in your life...what object is receiving your gaze? the storm or Christ?
good thoughts for reflection on a silent, Sunday, rainy evening...miss you all
On a lighter, but deeper side! I love this song that we sing on occasion at Jacob's Well - it is written by Mike Crawford (worship leader) I believe it is the truthfulness of the words - or the vulnerability of the situations it presents, but I love it and love hearing it sung...great song! check out the lyrics...with the instruments behind - it's miraculous
Words To Build A Life On by mc
These are words to build a life on
These are Your words how can they be mine?
These are words to build a life on
These are Your words I want them to be mine
Blessed are the poor
Blessed are the weak
Blessed are the ones
Who can barely speak
Blessed in your hurt
Blessed in your pain
Blessed when your teardrops
Are falling down like rain
Blessed when you're broken
Blessed when you're blind
Blessed when you're fragile
When you have lost your mind
Blessed when you're desperate
Blessed when you're scared
Blessed when you're lonely
Blessed when you've failed
Blessed when you're beat up
Blessed when you're bruised
Blessed when you're tore down
Blessed when you're used
Chorus
Blessed when you're heartbroke
Blessed when you're fired
Blessed when you're choked up
Blessed when you're tired
Blessed when the plans
That you so carefully laid
End up in the junkyard
With all the trash you made
Blessed when you feel like
Giving up the ghost
Blessed when your loved ones
Are the ones who hurt you most
Blessed when you lose your
Own identity
Then blessed when you find it
And it has been redeemed
Blessed when you see what
Your friends can never be
Blessed with your eyes closed
Then Blessed you see Me
Chorus
Blessed when you're hungry
Blessed when you thirst
Cause that's when you will eat of
The bread that matters most
Blessed when you're put down
Because of me you're dissed
Because of me you're kicked out
They take you off their list
You know you're on the mark
You know you've got it right
You are to be my salt
You are to be my light
So bring out all the flavour
In the feast of this My world
And light up all the colours
Let the banners be unfurled
Shout it from the rooftops
Let the trumpets ring
Sing your freaking lungs out
Jesus Christ is King!
Jesus is my Saviour
Jesus is divine
Jesus is my answer
Jesus is my life
Chorus
Give us ears that we may hear them
voice that we may sing them
life that we may live them
hope that we may give them
hearts that we can feel them
eyes that we can see them
thoughts that we may think them
tongues that we may speak Your words
These are words to build a life on
These are Your words how can they be mine?
These are words to build a life on
These are Your words I want them to be mine

Wow! No joke - I was just singing this song at our church camp tonight.. First time I heard it and I just HAD to get the lyrics to write on my wall in my room.. Just happened to stumble onto them here! Thank you SO much for posting those lyrics.. It's amazing how hard it is to find lyrics for some of the most AWESOME praise and worship songs! God bless you always in all ways - Your sister in Christ, Augusta
