A Full Week

mothersday

Another year has gone by and as of today Mother's Day has come and is just about gone. Perhaps it was a combination of watching a Creek episdoe where Dawson loses a parent, along with reading about Joe's grandmother passing - but I really appreciated mother's day this year. As you can see from the picture, my family completed the building of a pond in our back yard. The final product turned out better than expected, even though it's hazy and gross outside. Along with building the pond, Mike and I bought her a small redbud tree for another garden. That was planted this afternoon after church. Speaking of church, working with toddlers is an extreme way to either build or fry your patience...nothing like the sound of screaming babies to make your head spin. I walked in this morning desperately seeking to re-connect with God after two rather difficult weeks spiritually. Unfortunately, I think God is leading me on an intense journey of seeking Him in other ways than just the typical church and worship session. I believe I rely far too much on connecting with God in the modes I always have...and Him and I both desire more than that. So, as I walked into the church, I was soon re-directed. Philip noticed me and asked me to fill in at the toddler classroom today. We had quite a few kids and I think the experience was beneficial for me. Children have an innate desire for their parents...no matter what - this means we too have some desire for our father, I just have to unlock it, or find it again I guess. This upcoming weekend I'm venturing to Boston. To say I'm excited is an understatement. I'll have one exam more to finish before I can really get gung ho into licensure. I'll also be trying to meet the principal at a small private christian school. Then, two weeks later, Dusty and I will be flying out there again! Boston is coming quickly. On this note, there are many of you that I haven't talked to about this at all...if you're one of those people, hopefully we can chat about my future sometime soon. It'll be hard to leave so many of you, but it's more than something I need to do - or am supposed to do...it's just the journey of my life.

Tyler,
I went by the house tonight and saw the pond, it looks great. Speaking of people that didn't know you were going to Boston, Amy was really shocked when I told her you were going for sure. She was excited but sad you would be moving. Have a great week.
Laura
Ty,
So for real, are you going to tell us all how your date went or what?
Elisa
Hey man thank you for all the help this weekend we really couldnt have done it without you- Your brother Mike
So you wanna know how the date went huh E-train? Alright, I'll follow up on it soon. But here's a question to all the ladies out there...and gentlemen I suppose. When you're out on a date and a guy opens the car door for a lady, and its obvious that his door is still locked - isn't it true that a keeper girl will reach over and unlock the door? and if it's already unlocked, perhaps try to open the door a bit from the inside? I guess I never gave this concept too much thought until I found myself unlocking my own door, with my date sitting inside the car, almost the entire evening. I suppose in this case - the door really was locked, hmm, bizzare. Any thoughts? petty I realize, but definitely a turn off.
Tyler,
Michael and I had this discussion when I was at your parents home on Sunday. I agree with you, they should always open it. even if it is unlocked they lean over and unlatch the door. not that it has gotten me far in the dating world.
Laura
Ty,
I don't think the door-unlocking thing is automatically a window into someone's character. I say give her a chance and don't read into it too much. I want to hear about the date too, but I'm sure I'll get the full story this weekend. Can't wait to see you.
Mike P.
