things gotta change
I'm coming back to the heart of worship and it's all about me, all about me, all about me, Tyler.
Is is possible some of our lyrics could be rich with the depth of the lives around us, the tragedy, the love, the passion, the millions of other things that are heaven and earth and creation and death...could our melodies and sounds be more than 4 notes moved around in every song? Could our worship be more than a song written by some guy 2000 miles away? Maybe a song we write to praise God and not kinda thank him for our already blessed lives...you may think it's no big deal but these kinda issues eventually factor into our lives, our spirituality, our relationship to Christ.
I mean, really, is this the best quality we can put forth? Because honestly...it looks like people everywhere put forth more effort and better quality in the way they worship their cars, wives, whatever - you name it. Your basic cereal ad or TV show is more thought out, creative, and meaningful than many of our worship songs and events. Come on guys, we gotta do something...if i'm feeling like I want more - than I know God is desiring more, and I desire to show that
This will probably get deleted, but I'm a bit frustrated with the state of things tonight...thank goodness there are others who feel the same way up here. Any suggestions, prayers, stories, would be greatly appreciated in our effort to be authentically faithful to God in the way we love him
p.s. I thought the point of the crucifixion was to forgive us our sins...so why are all our songs still focused on him dying on the cross and our sins...but never mention the actual miracle and him coming back to life - to bring us back to life. I think it's time we embrace the death and the life and see the real miracle. Christ died (we got that) so we could have life (we need to get some of that) cause worship last night, killed me. And that's not the way it should be. "I go to church, but it's the last place I'd ever bring somebody I knew." That's weird, ugh, I don't want it! God we cry to you...let us worship you with our hearts, minds, bodies, and wholly everything that is yours in an effort to exude your holiness throughout the world...not in some poor quality service that we'd rather not be at anyway...forgive us our shortcomings.
If you think I'm too harsh...ask yourself - did I really offend you because I said something in bad taste? or did I just touch a nerve that was already aching anyway?

wow, no one agreed or disagree? or even a thought or anything...must hit a nerve or you don't care at all - weak guys, weak
Passion in anger. Can we do more than just talk? What do you mean no songs that speak of God coming or his grace? What about "Holy, Holy, Holy" Or Creed's "One"? Ok, so I'm not bring the blocks of Marble to the building party that you are, but some do make an effort. Please do not erase your blog, it's powerful! It's a side I only saw once (when I had my atitude and thought Brett and you were up to having fun times without me or some jelously). Why do I enjoy the effort of hiking up the mountains, great architecture, recycling, sustainablity, oposing war and opresion? Are these things for me? And what about you? Do you not teach others? Is that not an action of God... let me check, oh, yes, Jesus: Rabi, Teacher... I wish all people put effort into things with pasion intellengance, love and God, but I don't mind a bit of comedy. Why did God talk about taking a crap in the woods? (It's there and actually I have a rational answer to this). It bothers me that some churches look sad upon the cross and others that do not even show one. (Thus to not greive but be happy that we live through his grace and love). At world communion we celebrated God's grace with joy and happiness as we all went down the isle to take the bread and juice. That was the first time I have ever seen that aproach of Communian in my church. I was so happy and may we continue to be greatfully and mindfully. My church still signs old Hyms. You would be surpised as to what you will find and you, like my father does, can read a short history of the song at the bottom of the page or make a guess by the time period it comes from: before civil war, during, depression, WWI, WWII... There are many songs that are joyous from "I got the Joy, joy joy joy down in my heart...To He walks with me and talks with me... He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today..." There is a sign on the door of my church that I pass as I leave: "Now entering the mission field." For it is harder to speak truth with your friends, family then it is to speak to strangers. Good stuff, Tyler. Inspire me.
Wow.. Who set a fire under you!! Good dtuff, the kind of thing we need to think about a lot more often. A great song I love is On eagles wings.. It always makes me cry but it is a happy cry!.. keep the excitement going.. Yes.. Inspire us!!
Hey Ty thanks for the comment. I really enjoy hearing from you. I am sorry if I made you upset. I hope I didnt. I know your super busy. Its my fault too that we dont talk much. I think it would be awesome to come up there for a weekend or something. Who knows. About Smallville this past episode was really what I have been waiting for. Clark getting his powers back and did you think he flew after that rocket or does he have some nice verticle leap. This week should be good too with Aquaman coming on. I hope it will be good. Talk to you later Brother- Mike
i would say i fall in the "i don't care" category. in fact, i didn't even read it. i saw the title and my first thought was "this is going to be crap, don't waste time reading"
why don't you find something productive to do like... oh, i don't know... talk to one of you friends over seas, or do you have any.
