Ribbon Cutting and The Paramount
Today we officially opened up our school. This doesn't mean that school started, that's next week, this was to share our place with the community. I am so excited about this school, these kids, the whole experience. We haven't used the word Holistic in our discussions - however, that's exactly what we're after in terms of the development of out students. Do you realize how dynamic and needed that is in today's society? Raising children who are aware of their minds, bodies, character, and soul...much, much needed! Anyway, the most fun part to watch was a collaboration of first, second, and third graders all going up and cutting the ribbon together at one time - so much fun to watch! Afterwards the community took tours of the school and was able to see the building, rooms, etc. The idea of being a blessing to this community is very exciting as well, especially the opportunity to give these privileged children the opportunity to see how they can serve those less fortunate then themselves...with the hopes they might develop a heart to be a blessing with the gifts they've been given. The tours lasted for roughly two hours and then we all called it a day, a great day, but a day! Afterwards a fellow teacher Sarah and myself headed out for lunch - she took me to a place called The Paramount, which you can see above. A little pricy but very yum. It was a good lunch. This week I have been able to really sit down and enjoy lunch with many people and it's been nice. Sarah and I discussed everything from dogs to football to menopause (weird I know) to our favorite activities. I enjoyed my time. An hour or so later we left, I headed home to snuggle in for a nice little nap before heading to Mike's to watch The OC - intriquing show! And now, I'm heading back to bed for a little longer nap, nighty night!!
Oh yeah, check out Tim Keel's Blog as he discussed Brian McLaren's trilogy and the reader's guide he produced for it. I'm thinking about ordering it for my own sake as I no longer possess New Kind of Christian - which I HIGHLY recommend reading if you haven't. I also have a special gift possibly coming in a few weeks for some of you who read this! Lastly, I discussed the meaning behind my dream in the comments section of yesterday's post - let me know what you think still, even if I'm off...this has really awoken me to the depth of my faith and its authenticity.
"And I'm waiting for another me, One that can change the pain of yesterday, Carry me through another day
And I'm waiting for another me, One in between the burn and the lessons learned, 'Cause being me ain't no way to be"

Tyler, you watched the OC?!?!?! Only the best show KNOWN to MAN! I was shocked last night to realized the season premiere was already upon us. Oh, my friend. It looks to be an interesting season!! Plus it's good to hear that someone like Mike watches me. That makes me feel a little less paganistic about the whole thing.... ;)
