Oh, Sweet Caroline
Good times never seem so good
Oh I've been inclined to believe it never would
Ohhh, sweet Caroline, good times never seem so good
Dad, Mike, we should definitely get tickets for you all to come out and watch a game here...it's something else! Well, last week ended and so did the beginning of my first days of school, here anyway. The kids were something else, they're so little! I had forgotten, after teaching 5th grade, just how little they are and how much they need you for everything - and how all over the place they are! Everyday is a smile to say the least. At the end of the week several things were going on, or I was lucky enough to be invited to several events. On Friday a friend of mind named Johnathan invited me and several friends to see the Red Sox play Oakland. Turned out to be a rainy evening so we hung loose for a while playing pool...my skills were still there, off and on. I became a little embarrassed when I called a young, fairly attractive, girl by ma'am. She was in the way during one of my shots...well, in class we are working on calling people by 'sir' and 'ma'am,' so it's just kinda habit at this point. Anyway, awkward to say the least. After a little pool we headed out into the pool that was our seats in Fenway. Talk about an experience! We sat in the bleacher seats, two guys were kicked out, mid-game, due to fighting and another kicked out later due to stripping! Crazy! We spent the rest of the evening thinking up old 80's television themes along with watching the game. The Sox won but in a disappointing manner - really, who beans the guy with the score tied and the bases loaded? No new contract next year for that clown. Saturday was spent cleaning and lesson planning. Our house had a huge "Cafe'" party with some 200 or so people attending - quite the social gathering and a great way to meet people, unfortunately I wasn't there! Kendra and I organized a little surprise birthday party for Mike, and it actually worked. Besides getting pulled over at 2AM on the way home from New York...it was one of the few times I've seen Mike a little disoriented and shocked. Sunday morning I checked out City Life church where I met a guy named Matt on the subway...oddly enough Matt and I had briefly met the previous week. We attended together and caught up with some friends - I have yet to find a home or a place that represents the expression of faith I desire quite like Jacob's Well - but I'm wrestling with that and being changed by it!! exciting stuff...I will find community that is right for me - well, I already have really. Last night we had an outside dinner thanks to two English friends who we've had the pleasure of hosting for a little bit - awesome dinner, except for the raw egg on top. I should have said no to that. Overall, things have gone well, I miss home from time to time and the good ole mid-west system of live, I miss my friends, my church, my family, and my brother, but this place is right for me and it has the weirdest feeling of home and community despite all of its appearances. I do love it here - who would have though, perhaps I really am Dawson after all. Speaking of Boston, anyone know how my dog is doing these days?

You know my friend there probably isnt anything like a game of baseball in a magic feild such as Fenway. I hope one of these days we can go up there and see a game. I will talk to you later- Your Brother Mike
i'm glad you're having some fun mixed in with the craziness of teaching. if i had already master hebrew i would say something sassy in hebrew, but everytime i open that book, i have a small stroke. have a great week!
I will agree there is nothing like a game at Fenway. And I'm not even that big of a baseball fan. Laura

I think the girl you called ma'am was secretly charmed and thought about it later on by herself. Girls love that kind of stuff. My sister's bf always said, "Miss Amyrose, may I kiss you?"

We miss you also.. Fall is coming to Liberty.... Fall festival this weekekend, Homecoming next, supposed to be in the 70's next week. Boston is good. He got his shots and blood work done last week. I was a little concerned as he is only at 88 lbs now... But Blood work shows he is in great health, thyroid, blood sugar, liver all are doing well! I know he misses you. I'm glad you are having fun and making memories you will always remember.
