Last days of college
My last year of college was spent mostly watching and living through this show...obsession isn't a strong enough word, it was a way of life in that last year. Anyone who knows me has a clear understanding of how much I love this show - still awaiting the last season to come out on DVD. I don't want to wait but what can you do? Everytime I hear this song, see the show, or think about the themes it takes me back to college which stirs more memories than I could possibly unpack in this little excerpt. If you want to get close to me, just bring up this show in conversation, schedule a time to watch, or hum this song...terrific, reliable, and always good for a bit of nostalgia
I Don't Want To Wait
So open up your morning light,
And say a little prayer for I
You know that if we are to stay alive
And see the peace in every eye...
She had two babies, one was six months, one was three
In the war of '44...
Every telephone ring, every heartbeat stinging
When she thought it was God calling her
Oh, would her son grow to know his father?
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over,
I want to know right now what will it be
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over,
Will it be yes or will it be...sorry?
He showed up all wet on the rainy front step
Wearing shrapnel in his skin
And the war he saw lives inside him still,
It's so hard to be gentle at war
The years pass by and now he has granddaughters
So you look at me from across the room
Your wearing you're anguish again
Believe me I know the feeling
It sucks you into the jaws of anger
So you look at me a little more deeply
All we have is this very moment
And I don't want to do what his father, and his father, and his father did
I wanna be here now
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over,
I want to know right now what will it be
I don't want to wait for our lives to be over,
Will it be yes or will it be...sorry?
So open up your morning light,
And say a little prayer for I
You know that if we are to stay alive
And see the peace in every eye...

Firstly...
"excerpt" is a slice of something,
"expert" is someone who is a master at a something. You want to say the former.
Secondly...
When I think of Dawson's Creek, I get very nostalgic, too! I hate the show. But it brings me back to the year when BJ, Heather, Andrea and I never, EVER saw you because you were entombed in your room watching Dawson and company. All freaking year long.
sigh...
When you're 88, I bet you'll be the guy who goes against the grain: rather than saying, "I wish I'd made more time for my friends and family" you'll say "I wish I'd spent more time watching Dawsons Creek."
Tyler, I never knew this about you. Do you remember our scary movie get togethers with laura and jim, i hate scary movies, but those were fun times. i would have much rather watched dawson's creek.
