Too Thankful...too doubtful

Thanksgiving

Hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving. Ours included mostly my immediates, and Boston. That poor guy, he is limping, developing cataracts, and sleeps most of the day. But he's a trooper, still playful and fun.
I started thinking it's a good thing we have thanksgiving...and then right afterward we can look forward to Christmas. then it's cold, dark, and gloomy (my opinion) for a few months. Ugh, thank goodness my birthday is in Febuary - otherwise I don't think I'd make it. It's interesting to me how quickly we forget the things we're truly thankful for...or at least how soon we begin to take them for granted. We talked last night about another interesting phenomenon we see at work in our daily lives - the ways we satisfy the needs in our lives, mainly this idea of contentment. We discussed how typical it is to find ourselves filling our lives with things to replace needs. For instance, an apartment full of new and nice things helps us disguise the fact that what we really want is friends to share our time with. We finally came to the conclusion that we all have deep needs and desires...and typically, but not always, there is nothing wrong with the motives behind sin. Rarely do people choose to do evil because it's evil. Rather they choose to sin because they have a need to meet a legitimate heart's desire that is currenltly unmet. Sin is in essence, is meeting a healthy need in an unhealthy manner...and we do it all the time. An interesting conversation. Naturally there is only one person that can meet all these desires...how insulting it must be to Him that everyday I say, "You may have created the universe, and every piece of my body, mind, personality, desires, wishes, loves, and heart; but, I know what's best for me in this instance. Thanks for trying to help though, I'll talk to you tomorrow." Now sure, that's not typically what we're thinking, but it's gotta feel that way to God when everyone on earth finds better ways to meet their needs than turning to him. But we do have Thanksgiving to remind us of things like this once a year.

I do not think that God sees us as we see each other. Did we not discuss that God's Will, will come as an unforseen light? Still your view from God's eye is humorous. I wish we all really stopped and said what we were thankful for and not just in the time between football and turkey. And lastly, I do not think you ask for more friends, but something more closer to home. Can't wait for New Year's resolutions, Good tidings, grace and Cheer.
